  • Diapered during surgery

I know it has been posted a few times here but I think mostly on the old forum. So, here's the deal. My fiance' knows I wet the bed and that I wear diapers every night. We live together. I actually don't have any medical issues but I convinced her I do. She also kind of knows about my fetish but not really too in depth.

Here's the thing. She thinks I went to see a doctor a few years back to get tests done and so forth but I didn't. Well now I am going to have surgery next week(nothing to do with this, something else) and they have to put me under for only like an hour or so. I want ask the hospital before I get there to be put into a diaper before surgery. I just am not sure on who to ask to get that done before I am admitted. I don't care if it goes on my medical record. She thinks its on there anyways. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

nearly everyone get catheterized during surgery.... Diapers would contaminate the field.

    So don't even ask.

I know this all from experience.

That's absolutely untrue. I've had 4 surgeries and never been cathed. It depends on the nature of the surgery and it's duration.

Most surgeries require you to have a completely empty stomach that necessitates you not eat or drink for a minimum 12 hours prior. This also means the need to void during a short procedure is slim.

You also have the right to refuse a Cath unless it is integral to the procedure or recovery.

You can request a diaper for the procedure, or just provide your own. Caths carry a high risk of infection and some people don't want to take the risk.

list of surgeries I have observed or participated in that a cath was put into the person after they were sedated.

          prostate
          bladder
          stomach
          gall bladder
          femur
          uterus
          ovaries
          testicles
          penis
          spinal
          hip
          intestinal
          appendix
          kidney

pretty much i the surgery is between your knees and your chest then you will be catheterized even if only from entering to exiting the operating room.

DIAPERS CONTAMINATE THE SURGICAL FIELD. diapers are bacteria filled containers of human waste.

I am a fucking scrub tech. I know this from experience unlike most of you.

I know some surgeon who catheterizes all of his patients no matter the surgery just in case shit goes bad.

Anyone here who is a scrub nurse or surgeon, you can correct me.. everyone else shut up.

nasal surgery... depends on body weight... they have many options for medication. They could actually do a conscious sedation (probably won't but could). If you want to you could ask about diapers since it is above the time f contamination. You won't be out that long.. They may give you a mild sedative before you are brought into the surgical suite. You will definitely on pain meds afterwards.... Their goal is to bring out out of sedated state in 15-30 minutes... They actually worry if someone stays under too long.. Your vitals will be taken a lot. You can't go home till they are sure you are fully out of sedation.. in many cases that means assessing your movement and most people need to pee when they come completely out from sedation.

I had shoulder surgery and was offered a diaper for that. I should have accepted, since the vagal response when they removed my tube caused me to soil my gown and I had to changed when I got into recovery

With the exception of the two close proximity ortho surgeries you listed, those are all abdominal aren't they? Perhaps you are a tech for a general surgen and therefore exposed to a mojority of abdominal surgeries, but this doesn't mean that your statement that nearly everyone gets cathed durring surgery is true. In fact it would seem that my statement that it depends on the nature of the surgery is likely the more correct statement.

As you yourself agree with here.

Only if the diaper area is in the surgical field, and diapers are not automatically bacteria filled. As I'm sure you well know, urine from a healthy person is sterile, and a diaper is no more fundimentally contaminated than the gown the patient wears into the OR. Do strip the patient naked and scrub down their whole body with betadine before surgery? Obviously, again, if the diaper area isen't in the surgical field it's a non issue.

Perhaps you know more than Joe Normal, but you don't know anything about the other posters in this thread. I've also observed and/or participated in a number of surgeries (as a professor of various medical courses at several colleges and universities I've been invited on a number of occasions) and it has not been my experience that a cath is the norm.

While I'm sure you have orders of magnitude more OR hours logged than do I, it doesn't mean you have the market on knowledge cornered.

In addition to all of this, I once had to have a testicular repair after a sports injury (torn tunica albicans). This put the surgical field directly over the area in question and I was never cathed. How do I know if I was unconsious? I have a video of the procedure in its entirety.

My original comment was only a correction of you in so much as to point out that your sweeping generalization was inaccurate.
