  • Wetting whilst lying on front

Ok so just to be clear here, I am male!

I did a little experimenting with my new Tena Ultima's last night. They certainly seem to hold a lot without leaking. In order to make the wetting easier, I accompanied it with a bottle of wine, some beer and whisky just for good measure, as well as a lot of water so I didn't get a hangover (nearly worked!).

The trouble is, I don't remember going to bed. I think the alcohol must have had more of an effect than I thought... I know I must have changed into a fresh Tena, and put my onesie over the top. I somehow managed to forget my plan to wear plastic pants and protect the bed just in case. Now normally no matter what I do, I will wake up to pee. In this case I have a vague recollection of half-waking up a couple of times and going in my nappy, which in itself is strange because I find it really hard to pee lying down.

What is great is that this is the closest in years of trying I've ever come to sleep wetting, and even when wet, the Ultima's are really comfortable and don't fall apart.

What is not so great is that the bed and my onesie had a sizeable wet patch when I woke up. This is I suspect because I generally sleep on my front. If I was "pointing upwards" at the time, that's probably why. Like I said, I was barely awake :-)

Does anyone have any tips for leak-free nights when lying on one's front? It goes without saying I will try to remember to protect the bed and wear plastic pants next time!

Doesn't matter which way you point or side you sleep on, my suggestion for leak-free nights is always cloth diapers with plastic pants. And the pants should be large enough that the waist and leg openings can be tucked back under to minimize leaks. And if you leak, simply increases the number of diapers till you don't.

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't considered cloth actually, but it's probably worth a shot. I guess that works because of much more absorbency round the sides does it?

Good suggestion I rarely use cloth, but plastic pants are a big thing for me. On the occasions I have worn cloth, I've felt a bit safer from leaks. Having saisd that, I've not leaked very much in disposables. Sometimes I'll put an insert in, but pointing downwards seems to do the trick for me...

You could try a bed pad I supppose?
