I want to go to the store and buy some diapers for the first time. I am kinda scared about doing it though. I want to know if you go to a store by your area or a town away to get them. Plus any good type to buy, I want to be able to fully wet them and have them not leak. Thanks for the info.

Buying
I go up the street to the local Rite-aid or walgreens when I want some cheap diapers. most of the time I get mine from HDIS and they are delivered on a schedule. however when i do not keep a backstock of them I run out some times and need to run to the store for a pack or two until my regular order arrives.

I go to the stores all the time to get supplies. It is no big thing. I was told that incontinence is a $3 billion dollar industry and workers at pharmacies do not think twice about it. My biggest problem is nosy neighbors so I get them out of the trunk after dark.
I did go once to a store with a diaper friend of mine. She needed some diapers for herself and after she paid for them she turned to me and said, "OK, get your diapers and lets go home, you probably already need a change." I turned bright red and all I could do is grab the bag and go.

In my experience if you must shop in person its much easier and less embarrassing to go to a medical supply store rather than to a regular pharmacists. The kind of place that sells all kinds of medical stuff, from wheelchairs to stethoscopes and always diapers as well.
I find the people in there are much more helpful and they see all kinds of people shopping for embarrassing stuff, mostly for those with disabilities, and they don't judge. They will almost never be genuinely DL friendly, but they won't ask difficult questions, and can help you get the right size. If you go in knowing your waist and hip size, they'll point you in the right direction. Also, they can help you get the right amount of absorbency. You'll probably want the most you can get, so tell them its for nighttime or for severe/heavy incontinence.
Personally, I shop online, and thats SO much easier, but if thats not an option, I would definitely say avoid regular pharmacies if you can find somewhere thats more disability friendly. Remember more people than you might think have incontinence to some degree, and those who are in the 'care' industry rather than the 'pharmacy' industry are always more sympathetic.
