Apemantus, I somehow doubt it is the volume of posting that advances us. I have noted only one or two 'Member' status, and a humongous number of 'Junior Member' status, from whom there have been a LOT of posts.
The bolding is working fine for me - I am logged in, with cookies enabled - it does sometimes show earlier posts as being bold if they had only just been updated when I was last here, but it's a small wrinkle that will surely resolve in time. Again, chill and enjoy!

How would you expect this to be otherwise...

I for one welcome the new format. I'm a fan of dead simplicity and efficiency over bloat and complexity any day, but I don't think the format/usability are too hard to swallow, and this addresses many problems we've had with the board in the past, namely with trolls. This message board software allows much more granular control over posts.
I do agree, though, about the enhanced usability of the old perl-driven board. It's much easier to get a visualization of the flow of a thread. I guess there is no one best way to sort and display and organize lots of information, but I think that one came pretty close. I actually developed a board exactly like the old one, but with user logins and post tracking. I'd have liked to see it used on this site, but oh well. The "old school" boards look too primitive for most people.
