How did you tell your significant other?

For anyone who is in a relationship or has been involved in one - how did you tell him/her that your were into this fetish/kink?

Simple

Told her early on.

Told them once I was confident they were open enough to hear it, and when I trusted them to keep it secret.

For me, I didn't bring it up until we'd been going out for several years and I trusted her enough to 1) not freak out and run off, 2) not tell anyone else. It started off just joking about it, and eventually we were having a discussion about fetishes and I gently let her know that I was interested in it. She was calm, rational and accepting of it, even though she's not really into it herself.

I found that telling my partners was the easy part. The hard part came when I needed to decide, with my partner, what I wanted their involvement to be in my fetish.

Still working that part out. Some partners were willing to try it, some not so much, and in reality part of my fetish is ME being an exhibitionist, which doesn't necessarily involve my partner, so that's tough to satiate.
