  • What Happened?

    To this "community"?
WS forums used to be the go to place for things on this topic. The internet has evolved past mere forum/photo threads and WS has been left behind, now it is like a ghost town with the occasional tumbleweed blowing past with old photo's stuck to it. I find myself checking a few of the other sites on topic for new content and interactions before coming here to see nothing new. Granted it is not just WS, there has seemed to be a slowdown of content across the board but it is at it's driest here. Other sites a least have some user generated video content & more options to interact.
The reason I am saying this is because this was the first site where I could come and indulge my fetish and I feel it is the least I can do to try and perform some CPR or something. Where are the people sharing finds from the web? Where are people sharing content of themselves? I thought that with more people having cameras on their phones we would see an influx of "real" accident material but it has been the opposite. So I ask again what happened?

I have no idea. Maybe forums just aren't that popular anymore. I also think the fact that you have to register to use this forum now drove off a lot of people who preferred to be anonymous.

      Poor access

I could not access the photo board for several months. I only managed to get posts again a few days ago. I don't know what the problem was but others might have had the same problem and given up. I kept checking back every week or so.

Simple way to keep things going

Just post pictures, stories, artwork, or start discussions. For every post there are at least 300 lurkers.

I think a big contribution to this forum dying is the lack of manners of some members.
Healthy forums require fast and thorough moderation, for the simple reason that person + anonymity = asshole in many, many cases.
At some point, for each bit of new content that was posted, there were at least three people complaining about it, because it was not entirely what they had wanted to see or whatever.

Even now, a lot of the discussions ends up in some kind of weird off topic argument, where both parties seem to completely disregard the other party's standpoint, and have no idea on how to give structured reasoning for their own.

That's why I reverted to mostly lurking on this forum when I visit it. I'm sorry for all the people who cared enough to post decent material that I did not thank though. You're the people that make me actually visit every once in a while.

even places like GassyErotica or omorashi forums have become nothing more than frat houses. even then that's paying such forums a minimal compliment. they've all just evolved into initiation-based places, and half the content they ask you to contribute with is already posted. makes it impossible for those without a credit card to 'get by', putting it politely. then they have the nerve to tell you to that you're the one in the wrong.

it's only the freedom of adult entertainment we all seek, not the fucking politics!

This is a great place but whats holding it back is that it's anti-content:

-Photoboards denying access to unregistered users cut themselves off from a lot of new traffic, sometimes also cutting themselves off from image search engines. When was the last time an image search engine linked you to this forum? I bet never.

-The content isn't streamlined; most of the posts in the photoboard are text replies. If you want to post in the photoboard you should have to add a photo. Also the 5-attachment limit is kind of small for a photoboard.

-Its difficult to share videos. The times I've tried to upload requests of uncopyrighted videos my links get removed because the rules don't allow linking to file sharing sites.

I'm sorry, but I have to completely disagree with you here. Well, at least when it comes to Omorashi.org. I think Kirito is doing an excellent job managing that website and keeping it open and accessible for everyone.
The initiation you are speaking of is actually quite commonplace in forums, but usually it's a bit worse. I do not remember ever doing that for that website, but that may have changed or I may have forgotten. Anyway, you can access almost everything, but not the downloads. I just checked, and even as a guest (without registering) I can access the most interesting forums (including the links forum), the gallery and the fiction section.
So to access the downloads you need to make 5 (?) posts of value. That does not mean that you have to start 5 topics, and it does not mean that you have to contribute videos or anything (so no reposts necessary). Would be a bit weird anyway, if you can not download. So what you do is you open up a few topics (plenty of interesting ones in there), give some good replies and you should be done right?
Afaik, if you get a bunch of thumbs-up or a high post-count or whatever, your limits are raised and you get access to doujin .zip downloads.
The only thing that you have to pay for is getting rid of limits (note that there are no limits on downloading post attachments to start with), getting an archive of the gallery and giving downvotes (?).

The internet, becoming more advanced has also become more complex. With this the dangers become more complex as well. When this website started there was no tumblr, no social media sites, no "viral". Anyone who puts content up is doing so at quite some risk now, back in the start of this website traffic was low and email was the best mass communication.

I don't want to turn this to a debate I hate getting into, but I believe its an issue that primarily affects women and therefore the decrease in content from women is understandable. As with all social systems there will be places that still produce content despite the warnings of the world, but as the warnings increase the content goes down and outdated extensions of this network will die first.

I think all online forums have their ups and downs. In that respect this is no different to any other forum. After an initial flurry of interest in the late 1990s and early 2000s I think enthusiasm for forums of this type has waned, partly because there's been a proliferation of them and, in some areas at least, there's truth in the maxim that 'less is more.' I know that I'm signed up to more forums than I'll ever have the time to keep track of properly and I plead guilty to contributing here less often than I'd like - simply through lack of time. Anne, the accident-prone housewife about whom I used to write, has been far too dry and clean for a long time - not because her habits have changed but because I've simply not had time to write stories.

mmmhhh ... maybe logging solution has generated this problem.. When WS forums allowed anyone as guests, there were MANY people sharing this fetish but unfortunately also many fucking trolls!!! So, logging put trolls out but discouraged good people too... i'm not sure... but this could be a very small piece of explaination...
