  • The Downfall of Message Boards

I'm sure all of this goes without saying, but I still see people commenting about it or even asking why. Back in the years before the switch from black and green, streaming video was a far dream. We relished in the stories and posts that set our imaginations in motion. It was all we had and participation limited our loneliness in this subculture. It was enough to read a well written story to interest us and generate our conversations. Now, we live in an era of streaming video and not only are we desensitized, but we are lazy. Fewer and fewer people write because fewer and fewer people read and so fewer and fewer people write. It's a vicious cycle. I know it was never allowed but I've been coming to wetset since I was thirteen and I'm thirty now. I remember what it was to read the stories of Arthur Saxon and the like. And I remember what it was like the first time I watched Dirty Girls Down Under. Life changing shit..lol.

We can't ask for the way things were because they'll never be and we shouldn't expect that. Things change.

Dexter, I think there's more than a grain if truth in that. All of that said, I prefer message boards and emails to other faster, more interactive forms of communication. Maybe it's because I'm an old fashioned man!

The creativity sparked by the old message boards is still alive though. I discovered WetSet toward the end of the green and black years, and the stories I read there (as well as other places on the internet that I discovered after WetSet) encouraged me to start drawing fetish art, which I continue to do to this day.

More than that, I've now got some ideas for stories that I plan to soon (or, ya know, eventually...) adapt into full-fledged 20+ page comics. And I personally know plenty of other artists who plan to do the same, or have already done so. Stories ruled the land back in the day, but seeing one get directly adapted into visual form was unheard of. So don't weep for the downfall of message boards. Celebrate the art that has risen from their ashes!

        Don't mistake my meaning.

Some of the stuff by Koschel, Narada and others is some of the best I've ever read. I only mean to say it's much more rare these days.

There is some story writing still going on. Asstr.org is quite active with general fetish topics, although panty-pooping stories are rare. I have two stories posted there right now.

As for the daze of green screens, I'm an alumni of Bianca's Smut Shack and it's Daily Dump forum. That was a lively BBS until the trolls took over. Nothing has been the same since.

As for other forum activity, PPL is quite active and there are some groups on the FL website as well. I like the FL website because everything is behind a password protected firewall which keeps people's conversations semi-private.

I'm not able to contribute stories as frequently as I used to, thanks to my job demanding more and more of my time, but I'm still around and I'll try to post when I can.

I also miss the old days of this site. When I first discovered WetSet, there were tons of stories and loads of discussions here every day. Now, weeks go by without new content. Sad.

              Black and Green Days

I also came here around 2000 when I was 12/13 and these stories were everything! I find videos seldom convey what a well written story can. For me, a video will never be able to show what the girl is thinking in here moment of pleasure or desperation. Is she scared, excited, curious, who knows. Whereas with a well written story we're in her mind and know every detail of her darkest secret. It's a shame there's not more activity but I guess we still have the archives.

Narada, honestly you are the only reason i come back to this site. I keep hoping for new stories from you!

Ok but...where all people are gone?
Is there any site full of stories / exchange between users that I am not aware of? Or simply the pantypoop community is disappearing as well?

Agreed man, there used to be hundreds of stories. I remember downloading vids from Bertie's world over dial-up. And the free copy of wetset magazine that you could download back when they first started including panty pooping content. There was much more of a sense of community back then. I still pop in once in a while to see if anything is new, but I miss black and green too.

I've also been here as long as you. I think the problem isn't that media has changed, its that wetset forums in particular have failed to adapt. This place is still stuck in the 90s. There's nothing wrong with forums, but when that's all you have it begins to get boring.

                          My take

There have been a lot of complaints about these forums. Like any blog ir forum the people make or break a forum. It is a place to share stories, pictures, ideas and perhaps get to know one another.

In short wetset is what we make of it.

Vesta. I used to love the Daily Dump although it must be 18-20 years ago now. Forums of that nature need to be well moderated though and I think it was the lack of moderation (or so it seemed) that did for it.
