    This hits close to home.

One of my cousins is in her early 30s and has had bowel incontinence since the birth of her 2nd child. It can really make life hell. She can hold solid bowel movements, but that's about it. She can't hold loose BMs and can't hold her flatulence at all. It really does surprise me how common it is, yet you rarely ever hear about it.

I think it's one of those things that if you had it you wouldn't want to talk about it, after all it's hardly something you'd throw casually into the conversation down the pub over a beer is it, "oh by the way, I have a habit of uncontrollably shitting myself", people are not very understanding over things, even when, like your cousin, she did nothing to cause the condition. I remember some years ago when I was diagnosed with PTSD, the minute you mention you've got mental health problems people automatically think of that bloke in Psycho, or think you're going to whip an axe out and start slaughtering people.
I remember reading somewhere about a woman who'd got into making porn films when she was younger and ended up doing mostly anal stuff, by the time she was in her early thirties her anal muscles were shot. She said that she literally had about 5 minutes, from feeling the urge to ending up dropping a load, usually in her pants. I often wonder if these people ever think of the consequences of what they're doing, I mean, ok, you make a few thousand when you're young for letting a bloke stick his cock up your arse, but spend the next thirty or forty years shitting yourself uncontrollably, it can't be worth it.

Agree. We're in to pooping our pants or being with someone as they poop their pants but there are those among us who have no choice for various reasons. And society automatically brands them with derision, and basically, us too.
