  • Suggestion to WetSet re Youtube

Tony (and his dog) did a very useful test!

My thought is if WetSet could program these forums so that a reference to Youtube is automatically mangled in some easy to reverse way. This would preserve the videos and remove all the hassle and blame passing!

    An excellent idea David.

You can set these forums to filter certain words. It would be pretty easy to set "Youtube" in a filter where it would appear as *******

Another option would be to simply disable clickable links in posts.

Maybe a sticky at the top of the board entitled 'How to Link Videos on this Forum' would ensure that the message is taken seriously. Generally if it isn't a moderator on this board who dictates the message, it comes across as bossy squabbling, so obviously a more official notice to readers would be beneficial.

I hate to say it, but I don't think most people who come here have the presence of mind or care enough to follow some set of posting "guidelines".

We've been talking about the YouTube police monitoring sites like this and deleting vids because they are linked to from porn sites for over two years now. Nothing has changed.

I think that disabling hyperlinks would probably do the trick without making things difficult for people. It's not hard to copy and paste a link, and if you're lazy there's a firefox extension where you can highlight the link, right click, and open it just like if you copied and pasted.

Well isn't it possible to wordfilter certain words/chains of letters? Just create a wordfilter for "youtube.com". I'm pretty sure 4chan did/does this with certain websites.

Why force people to do the extra work of changing things within the address when you can simply disable hyperlinks and end up with the exact same result? As long as you don't click a link, they have absolutely no idea at all where you're coming from, so there's no reason to complicate things by adding word filters unless disabling clickable links isn't possible (which I don't think is the case).

Is all this hysteria really necessary? I'd just like to see everyone act like adults and save the video before posting the link. And BTW, what is the Master Plan for dealing with the video if it's also linked to from another pee site? And how does the Master Plan deal with idiots from here that post comments on YouTube like "Next time, shit your panties!!" and "I want to lick the piss off of your living room floor!!"? Did not one of you think of these things?

WTF... everyone take a deep breath and a chill pill.
