FORCING posting is a great way to KILL this forum!

Hey all! Thought I'd jump in on this discussion!

First off, I think forcing people to contribute is a bad road to go down and a another poster on a VERY similar topic mentioned PeeSearch which is a valid point.

Once you start forcing people to contribute you are going to encounter A LOT of really substandard posts and pics and I personally would rather see a couple people contribute a few really nice pics than everyone contributing a bunch of garbage. The problem you also encounter with forced contribution is people just walking away from the site which is what happened to me with PeeSearch.

Listen, a majority of us do not and can not produce our own original pictures, which is why we come here to an open style forum, so in order to be a "Contributing Member" over there I, and many like me, would post public pics which, inevitably, you would get people flaming you for because they were all ready posted or they were too old. After a while the whole mess became so much of a bother that I just don't visit the site anymore ... I didn't stop visiting the site out of protest and I didn't post some kind of nasty little note to the mods ... I just slowly stopped visiting the site until my visits became so infrequent that at this point I cannot even remember the last time I was there.

I understand WetSet and members wanting to rid the boards of spammers, haters and the like but placing more restrictions and requirements just isn't the way to go. Doing stuff like that only serves to discourage more people from posting.

Which brings me to my next point. Below I had written a post on my feelings about the new board system ... I don't completely dismiss the idea that I am the only person that feels that the boards have been negatively affected by the change but ... eh, I don't know.

Look, before the change I used to visit the site and check my 6 boards (Wetting, Diaper, Poop, and the 3 Photo boards that went with each) EVERY DAY and now I think I MIGHT be here once a week ... maybe twice but that is rare. Something changed for me. When the new boards came in I perceived a very sharp decline in both written posts and picture posts. Actually, it seems like the only people who regularly post on the picture boards are advertisers looking for buyers ... HDWetting, WellPadded, & Dirty Nikki ... just to name a few ... nothing personal I just wanted examples.

So if you are TRULY looking to cripple this site ... then by all means go aheah and "force" people to contribute because the facts are we are not all artisans producing original and timeless stories and pictures and we are not all rich enough to come here and buy $20 clips everyday.

Please understand that this post and the one I made before it are NOT intended as any type of threat or slam or flame ... they reflect my TRUE feelings on the issue. I have been a fan of WetSet for a LONG time! I remember logging onto Prodigy, connecting at 28.8K, and visiting WetSet all those many many years ago and I am really saddened by the fact that I rarely visit anymore.

    Take Care all!

As I've said several times, nobody would be forced to contribute content. I'm talking about posts, as in as long as you occasionally say "thanks, I liked the pics!" or whatever you're totally in the clear. But again, this is never going to happen largely because of the amount of work that would be involved for the admins when it comes to getting rid of people. It'd just be too much on a board with a membership this large.

Huge work for for little return...

        Hey there Ellipsis

I do agree with your point that WetSet wouldn't move on "Forced Contribution" ... but for two reasons.

The first is that I think even though they do not agree with my stance on the board changes, which is their prerogative, they DO understand that in addition to being a lot of work in becoming Big Brother stalking every member but that it would kill this forum and drastically reduce membership. Let's face it, WetSet isn't running this site strictly to give us all a platform to discuss our fetish ... no, they are in it for the money. (There's nothing wrong with that!) They hope we post our pics and stories and talk and get all hot and then we indulge ourselves by buying a clip or two.

The second reason is that all that work would be a total waste! Expending all that time and energy to produce garbage ... having dozens of people posting "Thanks" is clutter. COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION ... you post a pic ... you have 5 pages of people posting "Thanks" ... then you post another pic and have another 5 pages of people posting "Thanks" ... on and on and on ... THAT would be tedious!

If there are members here who require others to pay tribute or give credit for every good deed they do then I would suggest WetSet take a page from FaceBook and install a "Like" button.

*** Please understand that this post ais NOT intended as any type of threat or slam or flame ... they reflect my TRUE feelings on the issue. ***

Eh, I'm not exactly enraged by the lack of recognition for people who post stuff, but it just annoys me to think there are so many people who are only here to enjoy content provided by the few active members without ever posting even once. With that said, you've raised an excellent point about how my ideas fail to take clutter into account, and somehow I never even considered that at any point. This is exactly why I wanted to post it here, because a fresh set of eyes can easily catch stupid things like that which help make plans unworkable.

Also, don't worry about being seen as flaming. I've hung out on sites where any minor disagreement leads to a massive argument, complete with people cursing each other out and generally being total asshats. By comparison to that a reasonable person stating an opinion and pointing out flaws in my argument is nothing at all.

For a start, the technology is relatively simple, but you would end up with a Peesearch where threads are long and meaningless.

Not quite clear on why you think tons of "Thanks for the pics" posts are so radically different from seeing lots of views of your post? Its the same thing except it means any meaningful posts will be lost in a myriad snowstorm of "Thanks" posts. If you want to know how that looks, flick over to the panties forum at nonnudegirls.org and you will see a few pics, then two pages of thanks, then some more pics, then more pages of thanks. Its tedious and its pointless.

As for the general site content, not sure it is any different from its older days, except as there is no spam, no trolls, no racism etc., there are 75% less posts. But each post is actually (potentially) worth reading.

I understand people getting upset that they don't get replies but if you see lots of views, then you can assume you made an interesting post! The only other way to get lots of replies is to be an asshole, it worked for me and it works for Peevert!

The more people post, the more I realize what an overreaction this thread was. I guess I just have a problem with people getting something for nothing when the subject is so limited that finding new material can take serious effort, but as you said, I suppose getting tons of views is pretty much the same as tons of posts. The one thing I'd say is that it's nice to get criticism and commentary, which you can't get just from a page view, but obviously a generic "thanks" post is no better than a view in that regard.

Thanks for all the responses here, everyone's really been making sense.

There's nothing odd about that, it's a normal phenomenon on any Internet forum. When will people just start acknowledging this and not be so uptight about it?

You're acting as if this is "any internet forum". Most forums don't deal with subject matter that is incredibly obscure and hard to find on the best of days, so there's a lot less reason to get annoyed if your post gets only a few responses. "Hey guys here's some comment on a popular subject" vs "hey guys I just spent hours of my life trawling random youtube pages and search engines in order to come up with a few wetting vids, and I'm going to share them with the community instead of just keeping them to myself".

It's a false equivalency, is what I'm saying.
