Does that not at least come close to "an evil empire determined to crush us under its faceless might"?

I agree that a good number of the people at the protest are teenage revolutionaries who don't really understand the issues, but a whole lot of them aren't (far more than you're giving credit for) and those people definitely don't deserve to get assaulted and arrested for making their voice heard. Hell, even the ones who don't know what they're on about don't deserve it. America is the kind of country where you're supposed to be able to hold a peaceful, public protest and not have to worry about getting arrested for it.

Wait, aren't those the very instruments of "The Man"?????? Bunch of spoiled babies constantly filming and hoping to cry "police brutality" when their little zip ties are too tight or they cut their finger. Go big or go home like they do in Syria. You're a laughing stock.
Hey Razz, I saw your post about how I'm dealing in name calling and generalization, so I decided to reiterate the first thing you posted in this thread. Take a look in the fucking mirror before you attack other people for at worst doing exactly what you're doing.

I'm not even sure how to respond to your accusation that I'm making stuff up other than "bullshit". Wall Street is doing incredibly well right now while small businesses are falling apart, the middle class is becoming non-existent, and unemployment is through the roof using just about every metric humanly possible. Are you seriously trying to argue that this isn't the case? If so, do you ever watch the news? Or peek out from under your favourite rock, for that matter?

There really is nothing sexier than a bunch of 30-40 year old men in a pee fetish community playing pseudo intellectual in a thread about a video of a protester who was effectively tortured.

Keep up the good work guys. I, for one, am immensely fucking happy that the mods here don't ban guys like Major Travis for all of eternity, but instead let them run around shitting all over the house.

Ugh. You and these protestors are as bad as one another.

Who are the 'they' you keep referring to in your post? What exactly is 'Wall Street' to you in this case?

        Mega-corporations?
        Any publicly traded company?
        The accountants for those companies?
The lobbyists who work to get them tax cuts?
        The politicians who authorize them?
The stock brokers who work 9 to 5 on commission?
        The SEC?
        The government that authorizes bailouts?
The drooling idiots who allowed themselves to be bulldozed into taking out 'no interest' mortgages that even a basic high school check-balancing class would have made abundantly clear that they could NEVER afford?
The bank mortgage officers who told them they could afford it anyway?
        The bank president?
The day traders who ride roughshod over Etrade and treat it like a fucking flea market swap meet with no actual conception of how to 'trade as an investment'?
        The financial planning community?
        Susie Orman?
Michael Milken and the junk bond kings?
Venture capitalists who inflate hedge funds?
        The Bavarian Illuminati?

        You see my point?
Protesting 'Wall Street' is patently absurd. Our economy is trashed for a plethora of reasons. Trying to break Wall Street down into its millions of constituent parts in order to assign blame is folly enough. Doing so only by STANDING IN THE STREET AND SCREAMING LIKE THE FUCKING RAIN MAN is a height of folly that a rational, thinking, working man can scarcely even comprehend.

Eh? Ban me for what? I am one of the few posters in this thread who has not devolved into baseless, ad hominem attacks, personal insults, and vulgar name calling against any of the members of this board and community.

The only one I slagged off was some dippy bitch who pissed her pants because she put herself needlessly in a bad situation.

Jesus, are you all just broke, unemployed, and so fucking bitter that you have to take every word I say as personally as if I were talking about your own dear mum? It isn't personal. Really.

Everything you just posted and then some? I mean, if I had to get down to it, I'd probably assign the most blame to the banks themselves, because their rampant speculation and the fact they passed out subprime mortgages like candy was a huge issue in the run-up to the financial crisis, but it's all a part of the same system and all of those things can be said to have been their own piece of the puzzle. I like how you mentioned the politicians too: make no mistake, I blame them just as much as I do the banks, because if they hadn't spent the last thirty years weakening banking regulations we'd probably be in a whole different place right now.

Also, again, there you are with the insults against the woman in the video. You have no idea how much she knows about the financial crisis and the recession. You have no idea what she did (or didn't do) to get arrested. You're just assuming that she deserves to be forced to piss herself because she cares enough to go out and protest. I wouldn't be even half as annoyed in my responses if not for this undercurrent of authoritarianism you strongly support, as if anyone who gets arrested at a protest deserves it because "they shouldn't have been there and they probably didn't know what they were protesting anyway".

I mean really, do you know ANYTHING about this woman aside from what she looks like? Anything at all? Do you know if she's uneducated? Do you know if she's unemployed? Do you know if she did anything aside from attend a peaceful protest? No? Then what the hell gives you the right to pass judgment on her? Fuck all, that's what. The way you're talking about these people annoys me a million times more than any political disagreement we might have.

Oh, awesome, now you're pulling the "I'm not talking about you so stop getting angry" card. I guess I should just stop caring about anyone if I don't personally know them and do the exact same things they do. It's not like these people are trying to fight for people like me, even if some of them aren't as educated on the issues as I'd like, which is (by the way) a problem at every protest whether it's occupy wall street or a Tea Party anti-taxes rally.

I will agree with you on one point: nobody here deserves to be banned any more than anyone else. Technically we're all breaking the rules by having a political argument, which is #1 on the list of board rules. So yeah, you don't deserve to get banned for stating your opinion, no matter how much I might disagree with substantial portions of it.

I don't see what is to enjoy here. Restraining somebody without consent and forcing them to piss themselves is hot now? I bet there are plenty of S&M fans here too, would you enjoy a video a guy punching a woman on the street until she cries?

I'd post lots of economic and unemployment graphs, but nobody wants to see that on a porn site.

No Ellipsis I'm not trying to argue whatever you say I'm trying to argue. Again you're putting words in people's mouths. And yeah we're technically breaking board rules but I hope this doesn't get deleted as it's much more interesting than any of the other tedium that's been posted here recently.

Explain how. If I'm putting words in anyone's mouth, it's because of legitimate confusion, not out of any attempt at being a dick. As it stands you've twice accused me of doing so and neither time have you given me any clarification as to the arguments I'm supposedly misinterpreting. Or even what part of my posts are me "putting words in people's mouths", for that matter.

So I've been away from this thread for about two hours, and now that I've reread my first post with a calm mind, I'd like to make a public apology to Major Travis for calling him a fucking asshole, among other insults. I misread your initial posting to be an attack on the unemployed more than an attack on the protesters themselves, and while I still think that's wrong, it got me a lot angrier than I really should have been in any scenario. Now that I've had time to reflect, I feel like a huge douche for coming out the gates with both middle fingers raised high like that. I'm not sorry for disagreeing with you, but I very much am for the insults, which were completely uncalled for. The same goes to Razz for calling him a stupid dick in the same post. Major Travis was right when he said he's one of the few people who hasn't devolved into personal insults and vulgar name-calling, and I realize that I was very much a part of the problem on that front, so I just wanted to make things right and promise I won't do it again, even if this debate continues. Sorry for the double post, but I didn't want to edit this into my last one and risk people who already checked the thread not seeing it.

On the extended clip it took her soooo long to finish peeing herself, i tracked back to see how long and you can hear the pee splattering against the floor for 1:11. Just thought that was worth mentioning....

Thanks. I am loathe to derail the thread even further by adding more non-topical posts, but your posting was very mature and earnest, so I wanted to acknowledge that.

I never have a problem with people who disagree with me. Even on fundamental core issues (this issue is not one, fwiw) that are of deep importance to me. All I really ever ask is that people argue with some modicum of respect, contextually-appropriate measure of decorum, and a sense of relative civility and maturity.

I've truly never understood the whole concept of making personal attacks just because someone says or does something disagreeable to you. It has never made sense to me and it probably never will. But I have the utmost respect for you calling yourself out for it and making a public apology.

Thanks again for being big enough to make the post. Many would be far more inclined to sit anonymously behind the keyboard, slinging third grade insults, and crying about how I should be perma-banned for having a disagreeable opinion.

Thanks for the response and I appreciate you accepting the apology. Usually I try to argue with facts and logic, not petty insults, but I really let my temper get the best of me and now that I'm thinking straight, I wanted to make sure everyone knows it was a dick move on my part. Enough stupid childish crap gets said on the internet without me adding to the problem through my own actions.

With that said, I did some searching, and I actually found a blog posting by the girl in this video: http://rosinhabela.tumblr.com/post/1...-girl-with-the

It's really worth reading. First of all, she didn't actually pee her pants. Apparently the paddy wagon was stationary for about two hours outside the station, and that was when this video was filmed. They eventually got an officer to get her out of the wagon after she was crying so hard they couldn't ignore her, and they allowed her to go to the bathroom. Second, if her story is true, she was peacefully protesting and was maced along with a large portion of the crowd without any warning, then arrested along with everyone there. I, personally, don't have much reason to doubt her, as very similar tactics were widely reported at the Toronto G20, where hundreds of people were mass-arrested and then released without charge for peacefully protesting, including a substantial number of people who just lived or worked in the area and weren't involved in the protests.

Anyway, I'm not trying to re-spark the off-topic arguing, but I really think it's worth it for everyone who thinks she had it coming to at least read and consider her side of the story before you pass judgment.

It's all good. I can see both sides of the argument. Yes, the system is fucked. But I think this particular group of protestors is misguided. That's pretty much it. As far as Ellipsis's statement regarding "the ONLY people in America doing well...", "well" is a relative term so I was out of line saying you were talking out of your ass. I'm sure if we were sitting next to each other in a bar we could have a civil conversation about the subject.

Bottom line. Big brother is everywhere, if he doesn't like what you are doing you will be stopped... legal, illegal, justified or otherwise it doesn't matter. Americans may as well throw the bill of rights out the window.
