OK...I played a role in the confusion, so for that I'm sorry. I took his comment "I can't understand why anyone would want to read fictional stories and the fantasies of men" to be a slap at Maria's account, not an aside to Vic suggesting that he show more respect to people who like different types of entertainment. I can see how I misread that now.
