  • Update - Hollyoaks Wetting Scene

FYI all, further to my post the other day, I have found out that the Hollyoaks episode where one of the teenage girls wets herself in fear during a prank attack, is being broadcast next Weds (31/10) and will probably be on youtube around the 1st or 2nd of Nov.

Is this a scripted show? or reality tv? If this is a scripted show, did the actress actually wet herself or is it fake?

It has been handled both ways on television and in films. More often than not it is faked, but certainly not always. Usually, the higher the budget of the production the more money they're willing to spend on faking it with effects.

In some cases the director or actress will confirm in commentary or during talk show interviews and such whether it was faked or not. Outside of that confirmation, however, it isn't easy to be certain unless it simply looks like a total fake.

You think some scenes are real? I am from LA and I have never heard of any such thing. I mean, how much of a big budget do you need on a film to toss a bucket of water? I can do that for free.

I have heard some good stories here about "incidents." The Nastassia Kinski bit in that old film -- what's it called? -- would have been nearly impossible to fake, as the camera is right on her crotch. And I saw the DVD "extras" from the Hulk where Jennifer Connelly says she has a grouchy look on her face in such and such a scene because she had wet her pants. Also, there's the legendary tale of when Kate Winslet said that she just "peed where she stood" while standing for hours and hours in a tank of water during "Titanic," and also admits that her 19th century night gown kept floating up around her waist so that the whole crew was trying to ogle her knickers while she was doing it.

But if they're filming a scene that requires a wetting? I'm sorry, I can't see any of the production assistants, second-rate directors and third-rate actresses I have met in my life doing a real wetting on a mainstream film. Maybe in porn...........

Faked or not, you will probably love it. My boyfriend is complaining that we don't get BBC America here at my house! He would LOVE it!!!!

Well, firstly I flat-out stated that it was rarely done for real and is faked with effects more often than not. But you wanna flex that awesome LA knowledge and challenge me by stating that it NEVER happens, as an absolute? Fine, go ahead.

"Pieces", "Last House on the Left", "Frozen" and "Holy Smoke" all come immediately to mind as films that have real wetting scenes confirmed by key personnel. I am absolutely certain there are several more, but those four are the first ones I could think of in 5 minutes or less.

Holy Smoke eventually wound up using an apparatus for the filmed scene, because Winslet couldn't get the stream to look right even after consuming a large quantity of water. But she has stated that she was perfectly willing to urinate for real and gave it an earnest try in front of the camera.

Frozen used a closeup of a male's crotch urinating as a stand-in for the female who wet herself in the story, according to the dvd commentary, but it was still a real wetting.

And of course anyone can 'throw a bucket of water', but that is hardly an effective technique for a scene where you watch the urine spreading over someone's pants on camera. So it is too bad that your vast, cosmopolitan LA knowledge leaves you 'sorry' that you can't see any of your huge list of A List celebrity contacts engaging in such activity, but it DOES happen and it has been confirmed multiple times, whether in the US or in overseas films.

Dammit...smarmy, condescending know-it-alls from Los Angeles irritate the shit out of me. You think that just because some Key Grip gets his coffee at the same Starbucks you do every morning now you're some sort of industry insider.

It makes sense in most scenes that it is faked. For the Hollyoaks clip for example, obviously we haven't seen it yet, but from the sounds of it she will wet mid scene when she is jumped by a guy as part of their prank. Well clearly, not even the best actors in the world will be able to pee with split second precision (and let's be clear, actors and actresses on Hollyoaks are not the best in the world! Or the Uk. Or even the smalll village they live in. In fact, the acting is so bad that it's only the fact most of them are hot that keeps the show alive. But anyway, I digress....). So this scene I am certain will be faked.

But away from low budget UK soaps, I imagine it being more likely in high budget movies. That's because you get the likes of Miss Winslet, who are 120% dedicated to their work and will do all kinds of things to make a scene more realistic, or to get into character in a way that goes a hundred times beyond a crappy UK soap. So I don't doubt that some wettings in movies are real, because actors and actresses are crazy about the "it has to work for me creatively" bollocks, and they do weird shit. It's true... god bless them.

PS Kate Winslet was so much hotter after I found out she pissed herself for real doing Holy Smoke, even if the final cut was faked.

Indeed. Method actors would probably do it for real whenever possible.

The problem lies in repetition. With the exception of big stunts, everything is shot multiple times. That makes it hard to pee for real. Not impossible of course.

Peeing in a costume probably wouldn't endear one to the costume department either!

"Exposed" is the name. A superb scene, showing Nastassia Kinski dancing on her own, drinking, throwing her glass across her room, in the end sitting on the ground, legs parted, with a naughty smile while her crotch starts glistening... Could still be a light effect, but looks damn real, and the film director's intention is obvious.

No need to get in a tizzy over whether this stuff is "real"...it looks real to me most of the time...that'll do for now. When I hear of actresses who were actually willing to do it for real, it does bring a smile to my face, though, I'll say that.
