  • Days gone by...

    Just an open question:

You guys think if ws reverted to the old BBS system that was used when I joined this site, the posts would revert to the quality I remember them having?
Biggest indicator of the lack of good contributions (for the most part) for me:
I still can remember certain posts from back then... now, its just a blur of links and creepy questions....

    Any senior member relate?

    .

The message boards were more active when registration was not required. But there was a lot of off topic spam. But some of the off topic stuff was hilarious!

I agree. Much much better with the old system. I don't like change but usually, when forced to try it I find the newer better. This is one of those times where that hasn't happened. Bring back the "Days gone by" the Good Old Days!

Yes, I agree. I've been around for pretty much forever, and can certainly see the change that has occurred. One of the major problems is the subject of my unending complaint that wetting boards are forever being taken over by people interested in golden showers, naked peeing, "wetting" in the sense of naked peeing, etc. In the old days the board used to be much more active with topics related to the purpose of the board. I don't think the incidence of irrelevant posts has increased, just that the posts on pants wetting and its related topics have largely fallen off to almost non-existent.

But I don't think it's anything to do with the nature of the boards, or for that matter, the requirement for registration, which I think was actually a good move. It's simply that the boards now are too general, including watersports as a general category, in the same forum as panty pissers and public accidents, which to me are all quite separate interests. While there are those who see them as related, this is by no means always the case, and those who do not see the relation will potentially be turned off by having to put up with content which may in fact be obnoxious to them. Even though all they have to do is not read them, too many of this sort of post, and people will get put off even coming here...

I don't think the reason for change is the format, rather it results from the proliferation of social media and camera phones. Today, anyone can post or find virtually anything on the web with or without the consent of the person being depicted.

Fifteen to twenty years ago, when neither social media nor camera phones even existed, the board was populated primarily by people interested in the erotic aspects of wetting. Numerous men and women posted their experiences and discussed the stimulation they and their partners derived from peeing their pants.

Today, eroticism has largely vanished. Stories and sightings are the exception. The preponderance of the content has become YouTube clips and photos that have little or no erotic intent but instead circulate on the web because someone thought a wetting was funny or weird or that the wetter was disgusting or needed to be humiliated. To those aroused by this kind of content, de gustibus non est disputandum, but my tastes don't coincide.

I really don't understand why so many people see this board as so deficient when compared to the old one. As for people posting youtube content, when did that become a bad thing?

I used to love the old board. It helped me a lot while I was figuring out what I liked. Surely no one can deny that this place is a shadow of its former self, but the same thing can be said not only about other sites for this fetish (PeeSearch perhaps?) but other sites in general (remember when every post was a link to a webshots photo?!).

Websites fade in and out of popularity and relevance. Photos that used to be shared publicly on places like webshots are now shared more privately on facebook, twitter and snapchat. These changes inevitably trickle (sorry) down to effect sites like this.

Maybe there is a newer fetish site where it is like the good old days, the closest I've found - at least for videos - is omorashi.org. If people have other nuggets I'd love it if you'd share them.

                The old days

I tend to agree that the format of the message board, and the registration requirement, have not had a significant impact. Initially, there were people that chose not to register, but over time, most regular participants in this community signed up.

The real difference, as others have observed, is the dramatic increase in connection speed over the internet, which has made video upload and download available to most users in a way that was simply not possible as recently as seven or eight years ago.

I've been active in this community since the mid-nineties. Back then, writing about fantasies, experiences and sightings was a big deal. Youtube didn't exist. Google wasn't even launched until 1998; we had other search engines that were nowhere near as sophisticated. Still photos of wetting were available on the web, but they were not easy to find. And if they were large, hi-res photos, they took forever to load in a browser.

I have written about this before, as have others. For those of us that experienced that era, it is not an understatement to say that it is roughly analogous to those who grew up in the days before television. I am not that old, but my father is. Before television, radio was a big deal, with serial dramas that had very loyal audiences, just like certain prime time TV shows today.

In the nineties, even e-mail was not what it is today. There were no smartphones, and text messaging did not exist. Most young adults still knew how to write in complete sentences, and some even knew how to string those sentences together into paragraphs. [LMAO]

The speed of the internet has radically reduced everyone's attention span. No one has the patience to read or write in a meaningful way anymore. Why bother with tasteful erotic writing when you can get instant gratification with video?

I do not carry a cell phone. I'm not kidding. I gave it up about three years ago, and it was the best decision I ever made.

                People think I'm nuts.

I am nuts. [LMAO] But not because I choose not to carry a cell phone.

                Lawrence

I've been here since 2002 and I can't see why the new format forums have had such a drastic effect on the popularity of this place. Infact, I don't believe it's entirely the cause at all, I think it's a combination of all the things already mentioned.
Personally, I've got used to the wide availability of videos. And as WPB mentioned above, I've become a regular user of Omorashi.org over the past few years, largely because it has its own dedicated webspace for uploading and downloading videos.
Perhaps something like that would help to boost this place? The downside is that it would need someone on hand to police the sharing of copyrighted content like they have over there, so that the place doesn't get shut down. But they've been managing that quite successfully.
Anyway, just a thought. Although I appreciate that Wet Set would be unlikely to take that onboard, since they're trying to SELL videos not become a distribution point for free ones.

I think I've been around for about 10 years. Maybe I was on skymouse before here, but the issue has nothing to do with naked peeing. I believe two things happened: just as stories began to get boring (with a parade of men obviously posing as women posting fantasies as true events, and the actual women being harrassed beyond measure), videos became easier to access. I still enjoy the stories being posted on omorashi, but again, a good portion of the ones by 'females' and that are purportedly true read as men making stuff up. That kinda stuff just takes me right out of it unless the writer is really talented.

                      Hey Wet Canadian,

First of all, I don't think Paul would ever go back to the old message board format. So, we can forget about that.

This php format is so much easier for the mods to monitor and maintain. With the old one, it was very tedious for the mods to read 'em all and delete those which were abusive or inappropriate.

However, you are right. Both the quality and quantity of the posts were better in the old days. I've been coming here since 2000. Times change and, sadly, this new format was deemed necessary by Wet Set. I can't say I blame them at all.

Been on this group for many a year.
There used to be many more contributors to this site, but guess what?
A bunch of egotistical asses showed up criticizing every upload sent, claiming "fake" on legitimate material and starting flame wars any way they could.
This ran off a lot of excellent contributors who only enjoyed the site for its intended purpose and wanted nothing to do with the troubles started by the asses.
Too many well meaning people made the mistake of answering the asses remarks; this is what fueled their satisfaction.
It was a pain in the ass for Paul, whom I believe redesigned the site to make it easier to control.
I don't criticize any download or story just because I don't like them. I'm sure other people do. And I certainly wouldn't fuel a flamers ego by commenting on his post.

This post for the win. Going even back into the late 90's there was a generally great community spirit and mutual respect amongst members. A few assholes who get off with their negativity and need to keyboard warrior were allowed to ply their negativity and that killed the spirit of goodwill here. Many good women left or stopped posting, and guys like me hardly ever post because that community spirit between male and female members has been negated by too many negative dickheads.

Word to dickheads - if you come here, find some material you do like - get yourself off on it and shut the F up. We are not interested in your criticisms, nobody comes here interested in your opinions. Yes, links to sites that end up with heaps of pop ups and hoops to jump through to get to see the video or pics are annoying but do what I do, ignore them, don't rant about it here.

There is still great material here from time to time and good contributors and maybe we should all make more of an effort to thank those responsible, and to treat any female here with utmost respect, but also each other.

I miss the amount of activity on here

I do miss the old format but it's mainly because of the amount of activity, now there are little to no new post on here and when there are new post it's some dude asking "are there any girls who would be down to bang and pee their pants?" or a reposted youtube video. Maybe someday this site will go back to the way it used to be.

I don't think it's the format. Rather, it is the way that the nature of information sharing over the Internet has changed. I have been here since about 2000 -- yeah, that long. There used to be a fair number of women here, and now I seem to be the only one left.

In a way, the new format is better. It was really scary when the IP addresses were posted. Some guy would always write and say: "I traced her and she's in Cleveland," or in Norfolk, or Brisbane, or wherever. And then the woman would freak out and disappear. At least there is much more privacy and protection with the new format.

But unfortunately, there is no content which would attract a woman at all. In the days before youtube, when not everyone on the planet carried a camera cell phone, it just wasn't possible to post endless, countless links to free vids. People didn't have much of any other way to communicate except to talk about themselves, their experiences, their feelings, and so on. And that was what the women came here to read. Because we are into RELATING. What heterosexual woman in her right mind would want to see a grainy video of some teenage girl pissing herself as she falls over the couch because she raided Mommy's pharmacy cabinet?

And there is no point in complaining about it because the march of technology -- dehumanizing though it might be -- is never going to stop. You can have your free vids and avoid contact with real people. It's the wave of the future.

My own suggestion -- and I have thought of doing it myself -- would be for someone to start a whole website that focuses only on conversation, stories, the sharing of experiences, and so on. In order to accomplish this, one would have to simply ban all the vids and youtubes, but I can think of several guys here on this very message board who long to talk to other people -- especially women -- and would probably sign up in a hot minute.
