Realplayer
I've used it and its quite good. However one caveat. I run XP and with Realplayer installed I can't delete MP4 files. I don't know technically why this is. So if there's a bunch of stuff I want to download I install Realplayer, copy the files to disk, uninstall Realplayer, then delete the MP4 files.

Realplayer is a godawful bloated mess of a media player and I'd advise all of you against installing it if you value your PC.

Use that program, it's the one I've been using for about a year now and it does almost everything I need when it comes to ripping vids off the net.

Originally posted by EllipsisI am not kicking you down. I'm making a suggestion. If you don't want to follow my advice go ahead, but don't spread false info by saying that software gives you trojans. It emphatically doesn't, and I'd know because I've been using it for a year and my computer's fine.
If you don't want to, I wish you a long and happy time downloading any sort of shit and may you stay virus free.............but I doubt it.

Could you at least not act like a condescending asshole while you're spewing false info? I never thought in a million years that this would actually lead to an argument but atube catcher does not give people trojans and free software is fine as long as you're not a complete idiot about it.

See that? That's a download.com link, that site being widely trusted among just about everyone on the internet as a site that doesn't put up dangerous things. Note the "tested spyware free"? Note the positive review? Now take your own advice and google "atube catcher spyware" and "atube catcher trojan". Are you seeing anything that's not a spam link or anything that seems to be legitimate? If you do, please link it here, cause I'd like to see it.
Seriously, you're not as smart as you think you are just because you've spent some time in a related industry. In fact, the fact that you're telling people to download Realplayer while simultaneously attacking me for advocating a free alternative because "it has trojans" shows how vast the depth of your ignorance truly is, considering how RP embeds itself so deep into your computer that it's literally almost impossible to remove all traces of it once it's installed.
In conclusion, you're stunningly out of touch with how to find safe, free software, and I'd really appreciate it if you'd stop lording over me like you know better when you really don't. And don't just attack me for insulting you if you insist on responding to this. Take your own advice, google the software, and come back with a shred of evidence that it causes damage to people's computers. I'd invite anyone else who's watching with with bemusement to do the same thing if you think I'm lying and Tony is some kind of master of internet knowledge.Last edited by Ellipsis; April 5, 2011, 05:34 AM.

Yeah, maybe I'm going a little overboard in defending myself, but I get very annoyed when people make me out to be an idiot when I actually know better than they do on a subject. Doubly so when they wave around technical credentials and then spout the same ignorant crap.
I'll probably put up some more pics on the photo board later to make up for forcing people to read this argument.
