  • Reality show Reality???

Im curious to see what opinions others have here. Last night I was whatching a show called I shouldnt be alive. Anyhow this woman Id say around 30 when for a run in the canyons of utah and fell off a 20 ft ledge. The fall shatered her pelvis making it nearly imposible for her to move. Anyhow here is what I thought was odd. She was stranded for 2 days and 2 nights waiting for help, Im probobally giving more detail then needed here but gettting to the point the show implied that she somehow managed to not piss for a good 48 hours before she was finally unable to keep from going.

I find it hard to believe someone could keep from pissing for that long. Keep in mind it got to be 30 degrees or less at night and not much warmer durring the day so I doubt she was sweating that much out and Im sure prior to her fall she was drinking water to stay hydrated.

I dont know, naybee someone else saw this as well but it makes me question how real the show really is, I mean 48 hrs without pissing, is that humanly possible without being totally dehydrated?

Not without total dehydration or obstruction caused by serious injury. Either of which could happen during those kinds of circumstances.

      Hmmm!!

I bet when she did go it lastest a good while. Anyway I am not a pschologist but pain can do some strange things to your body. Well the brain really. She may have just been so focused on pain that other receptors shut down. Just a thought.

Not a medical expert, but when I did my first aid course last year, we were all told that a side effect, and therefore a good indicator to a diagnosis of a broken pelvis, was the casualty complaining of extreme pressure on the bladder, and quite often someone with a broken pelvis will involuntarily wet themselves... So for her to last 48 mins let alone 48 hours with a shattered pelvis is some achievement!

Indeed. I can't imagine anyone with such an injury wishing to add the pain of a full bladder to the pain they were already in. I suppose it's possible that some nerves which detect bladder stretching (baryoceptors?) may have been damaged.

I'm not a medical person either, but when you imagine the state that poor woman must have been in, I doubt if she would even know if she had pissed herself.

I don't know about others, but I feel that pissing under this sort of situation, isn't sexy in the slightest.
