If you request people to not use a service, then provide an alternative. Preferably one with at least a good chance that the links work for a couple years, and one that's free for downloaders. Good luck finding that. Just saying "don't use that" is lame.

Click on the download button twice (two single clicks, not a double clicks). First click tries to open a popup that is probably blocked, therefore it looks like nothing happens.

I had the same problem, but I disabled adblock, and it is back to normal.

I use Firefox with NoScript to block scripts, Ghostery to prevent ads and Cookie AutoDelete to delete cookies. That removes all the c**p. Sendspace still hijacks clicking the Download button (the only user action) to try and open a new web page, ignoring browser requests. But that is always to the same domain so can be blocked.

The Download button also offers the file for download, so it is possible to download from Sendspace safely.

The simple fact is any site offering free download is going to try and make money by selling ads or trying to get and sell your data. As this site has been around for years, the adverse aspects can be avoided and you can download the file, it is actually a good site to use for this purpose.
