      FLV Player

If you are referring to the "College Park" fight video, it is an .flv file, which is Flash video. The error you are getting suggests that you are trying to play it with Windows Media Player. WMP doesn't work well with Flash video. Flash video is designed to play on Adobe Flash Player, but even that program appears to be designed primarily to play video that is embedded in other programs, like browsers.

Honestly, a lot of this is beyond the scope of my expertise.

      But try this:

Download a free flash player, like this one:

      http://download.cnet.com/FLV-Player/...-10467081.html

Software that is offered for download on cnet.com is generally very safe, very reliable, and free of spyware and adware. This player works for me. I used it to open and play the video you are asking about.

And I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3. With Firefox 3.5.3. And Internet Explorer 6. And that's not a typo.

I don't like to upgrade to the new versions until they have been fully tested by other guinea pigs. Call me crazy, but I'm running some business apps on this PC, and I don't want to worry about compatibility.

Lawrence, I hate to be the one to tell you this but you are not playing it safe and protecting your PC by using Firefox 3.5.3 and you are very vulnerable to infections with malware by using Internet Explorer 6.

Firefox 4 is much safer and at least upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 (because you cannot run Internet Explorer 9 with WinXP). I understand you are running business apps on our PC and don't want to risk problem programs but the very browsers you are using can cause you problems! Plus Internet Explorer 6 cannot render some of the websites you use properly. There have been known problems with IE6 not being able to render some HTML properly since IE6 was first released. Trust me... I know... I have been designing work arounds for the IE6 browser for a long time on my website at www.patches.net and IE has been playing catch up to the other major browsers for a long time. IE9 has finally fixed most of the rendering problems that webmasters have been complaining about for ages, plus it has added safety features that even IE8 doesn't have, let alone IE6.

Regarding a player that will handle Flash flv files, I recommend that everyone use the VLC player which can be found at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html for Windows.
